On 13–14 November 2025, the Swedish ACT (Advanced Chip Technologies) Competence Centres Consortium met at KTH Electrum in Kista. The two-day gathering brought together researchers, industry partners, SMEs, regional authorities, and innovation actors to follow up ongoing activities and reinforce national cooperation in advanced chip technologies.

The programme included contributions from academic teams, national laboratories, regional policymakers, and industrial partners, illustrating the diversity of Sweden’s semiconductor landscape.

Updates were shared from ACT’s technical work packages, touching on areas such as integration and packaging, sensing and detector technologies, sustainable semiconductor systems, wireless communication, and emerging electronic materials. Presenters discussed progress to date, current challenges, and areas where collaboration can be further strengthened. A set of poster presentations highlighted current research from both academia and industry, reflecting ongoing work within ACT’s technical areas.

Participants from Lund University, KTH, RISE, IRnova, Ericsson, Volvo Cars, KISAB, Acconeer, AlixLabs, AlignedBio, NordAmps, ALSTOM, Region Skåne, Region Stockholm, Stockholm Business Region (SBR), Sting, LU Ventures, Vinnova, Kista Science City, SweWIN, Ericsson Silicon and KTH Innovation contributed to the meeting through insightful presentations and active discussions. Regional actors presented valuable perspectives on Sweden’s involvement in the European Chips Act and ongoing efforts to strengthen regional capabilities within the semiconductor domain.

The meeting also included an overview of KTH’s innovation support system, highlighting how universities enable idea development, venture creation, and long-term capacity building. The presentation referenced the national report “Svenska lärosäten – kraftfulla motorer för tillväxt och innovation,” underscoring the broader role of higher education institutions in Sweden’s innovation ecosystem.

National initiatives such as the European WBG Pilot Line, the Swedish Chips Competence Centre (SCCC), the Semiconductor Arena, and the SweWIN 6G programme were also highlighted, showing how Swedish organisations are engaging in European research, skills development, and innovation activities. Vinnova provided information on the upcoming European funding opportunities relevant to the consortium.

The meeting supported continued dialogue between partners and contributed to the shared ambition to strengthen Sweden’s position in the semiconductor value chain. ACT will continue its efforts to advance national coordination, foster research and innovation, and contribute to Europe’s broader goals for a resilient and competitive semiconductor ecosystem.
